Two Version 1 Customer Solutions among the Nominations for Ireland's eGovernment Awards 2011

    28 January 2011

Two solutions developed by Version 1 have been shortlisted as finalists in the 2011 eGovernment Awards. Eirgrid and SONI Ltd's SEMO Website has been nominated in the Cross Agency Category and SEAI's Home Energy Saving Scheme System has been nominated in the State Body Category. The winners will be announced on 23rd March at an Awards Ceremony Lunch in Dublin Castle.

Eirgrid and SONI Ltd's SEMO Website has been nominated in the Cross Agency Category.

The Single Electricity Market (SEM) is the wholesale electricity market operating in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland; a joint venture between Eirgrid plc and SONI Limited. The SEM provides for a competitive, sustainable and reliable wholesale market in electricity and the new website is a key way to improve operational control of all information communicated to external parties and to provide real-time reporting capability on the pricing of electricity to SEM stakeholders. The website facilitates self-service of market data through dynamic reporting, allowing users to query pricing data themselves and significantly reducing the number of requests to the SEMO helpdesk.

SEAI's Home Energy Saving Scheme System has been nominated in the State Body Category.

The Home Energy Saving Scheme Grant Management System handles all grant applications and payments for the scheme which provides assistance to homeowners who want to improve the energy efficiency of their homes through upgrades such as roof insulation, wall insulation, high efficiency boilers and heating controls. The system was delivered to a very tight deadline driven by a Ministerial decision on home energy savings.

Version 1 worked in partnership with the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland to design processes and technology in tandem to deliver a highly-intuitive system. With limited capacity to take on additional resources, straight-through processing of applications has significantly reduced the amount of effort required to complete and administer the grant from the back office. In the first few months of operation, the system processed grant applications totalling €17m.
