Two Version 1 client solutions among Inspired IT Awards Finalists.
30 September 2008
Two solutions developed by Version 1 have been nominated as finalists in the 2008 Inspired IT Awards. Syncreon Travel Request Work Flow Automation system has been nominated in the Retail, Distribution and Logistics category and the Mental Health Commission Secure Messaging Centre has been nominated in the Health and Education category. The winners will be announced on 9th October at a Gala Awards Dinner in the Mansion House, Dublin.
Syncreon Travel Request Work Flow Automation nominated in Retail, Distribution and Logistics category.
Syncreon, a global leader in value-added logistics for automotive and technology industries, has offices around the globe and significant travel management requirements. Syncreon travel coordinators were manually supporting an average 2000 travel requests a year. This paper-based system was time consuming to maintain, susceptible to human error, inefficient and often circumvented by staff.
Syncreon identified the need for an automated travel process allowing key decision makers to have tighter control over costs. Their requirement was for a software-based solution that would automate the entire travel process but which also stayed within budget constraints. Version 1 was engaged to develop a Travel Request Work Flow Automation using Microsoft SharePoint. Version 1 delivered the functionality required, within the budget and also within the required five-week deadline.
The system allows users to make travel requests through SharePoint forms and custom-built workflows give travel coordinators control over the entire process. It is integrated with Microsoft Outlook allowing users to manage the entire process via email and store their travel itineraries within their personal calendars. A reporting interface gives travel coordinators the ability to extract credit-card costs associated with the travel requests for reconciliation with bank statements. The system has been successfully rolled out across a number of Syncreon offices and currently has some 300 users.
Mental Health Commission Secure Messaging Centre nominated in the Health and Education category.
The Mental Health Commission (MHC) is an independent statutory body, established in 2002 under the provisions of the Mental Health Act 2001. Its primary functions are to protect the rights of involuntarily detained patients and to put mechanisms in place to monitor, inspect and regulate the standards of care and treatment in the mental health services. As part of a set of improvements to its internal systems, MHC identified a requirement to deliver tribunal and related documentation to review panel members electronically.
Version 1 was engaged by MHC to develop the Secure Messaging Centre which would deliver highly confidential and time-sensitive information via secure electronic channels to the right people with complete certainty and at greatly reduced operational expense. Version 1’s solution uses industry standard technologies including Linux, Apache, SSL and Web Services and generates secure, digitally-signed pdfs using 128-bit encryption. It integrates tightly with MHC’s existing systems and was delivered on time and on budget, yielding significant operational and monetary benefits for MHC.
