Version 1 Employees Achieve Top PHP Qualifications
21 February 2006
Version 1 has announced that two of its employees, Brian Hickey and Tim Charnecki, have achieved Zend PHP certification - placing them in the first three in Ireland (and first 1,000 worldwide) to achieve this status.
"Version 1 Software has always prided itself on adopting latest technologies to bring benefits to their clients. The success of our certified engineers also demonstrates the technical excellence of our staff and the importance we place on the continual education of our staff," said Justin Keatinge (Managing Director Version 1).
PHP is a widely used language that has been specifically designed for web development. "As more and more organisations recognise its speed, simplicity, stability and security it has become the world's most popular web development language in use on over 15 million websites. It represents more than a quarter of Internet Web servers globally more than any other platform in existence," said Keatinge.
Zend a company formed by the architects of PHP to support enterprise users, has driven this growth and they established the Zend Certified Engineer (ZCE) Qualification in 2004 as an established benchmark for technical excellence.
Major global companies currently using PHP include HP, Boeing, Lufthansa, Disney Online, Yahoo!, Lycos, Sprint, T-Mobile, Orange, Nortel Networks, WallStreetOnline and Siemens. IBM & Oracle have collaboration partnerships with Zend and this is helping to fuel PHP's growth and the need for a standard way of measuring the skills, ability and aptitude of developers.
"Version 1 has developed a unique component-based approach to application development that delivers custom designed and built applications in timescales usually associated with 'one size fits all' packaged products. A key part of this approach is PHP," added Keatinge.
The First 1000 Zend Certified Engineers are entitled to use a special logo to illustrate their skills and their position in the forefront of this rapidly growing development tool.
