Dave has been with Version 1 for almost 18 months working as an Associate PHP Consultant. Find out what you can expect from a career in Digital at Version 1.
What is your role and how has it developed since you first started? Have you progressed within your role?
I’m still working in the PHP Team as a PHP consultant. I’ve been tasked with a bigger role in the team, and I’ve been trusted to be the primary consultant in a few projects. I’ve worked independently when implementing change requests by the customers, implementing bug fixes and handling production releases. It has not been easy, but I’m surrounded by experts in their respective fields, so I’m constantly learning a lot on a daily basis.
What's the best thing about working in Version 1? What's been your biggest challenge to date?
Personally, I feel the best thing about working in my department is that I’m trusted to make relevant contributions to the team and our customers every day. I’m given the freedom to work away and encouraged to work to the best of my ability.
My greatest challenge to date was going onsite for a requirement gathering meeting with a customer. It was my first time doing it, but I believe I handled it quite well.
Do you regularly see the company’s Core Values in action and Is the title of a Great Place to Work deserved?
You see the Core Values in action every day at Version 1. People are approachable and always willing to help when you have problems. Without a doubt, employees at Version 1 are driven to provide the best service to the customers.
The Great Place to Work title is definitely well deserved. There is a proactive interest from management in the careers of the employees, and this reflected in the 1 to 1 meetings. Team Lunches, Engagement breakfasts, Summer BBQs are the other ways that Version 1 makes sure that employees are happy to be here.
