About TechX 

At TechX our mission is to instil technical knowledge and drive excellence across our delivery Teams, enabling a culture of high standards that benefits Version 1 and our customers. Our team has both an internal and external focus. Internally, we work with our delivery teams on key initiatives to drive continuous technical and process improvement. Externally, we provide technical support, product knowledge and guidance for key customer engagements.

This role is for a senior position on the TechX team at Version 1. At TechX our mission is to instil technical knowledge and drive technical excellence across delivery Teams, enabling a culture of high standards that benefits Version 1 and our customers. We are currently expanding our team and looking for someone who is customer focused, very strong technically and who is a great team player.

Reporting directly to the TechX Team Lead, this person will be responsible for the definition, rollout, and auditing of:

  • Cloud technical solutioning and delivery methods.
  • Helping to define and enforce technical standards for the Practice.
  • Defining and choosing Technical toolsets for the Practice.
  • Performing reviews and technical audits on delivery programmes – to ensure consistency and excellent delivery.
  • Evaluating emerging technologies and their suitability for use on future projects by our delivery teams.

This role will embed a culture of commitment to code quality, engineering excellence, exceptional technical standards, and strong business writing.


The successful candidate must have:

  • 10 years+ hands-on experience in solution delivery and a history of ‘getting things done’.
  • Proven ability as a self-starter who can quickly adapt, demonstrate leadership and think creatively.
  • Good communication skills and is comfortable with delivering presentations and speaking with clients.
  • Strong experience with creating solutions in either AWS or Azure cloud platforms.
  • Understanding of Digital (software/application development) and Cloud and can meet the standards of a title of Senior Technologist, Solution or Technical Architect.
  • Strong understanding of Agile and DevOps principles and practices.


Nice to haves:

  • Possess the appropriate level of certifications for this type of role.
  • Understand design patterns/anti-patterns, best practices, Security by Design and Privacy by Design principles.
  • Experience in some of the following DevOps tooling: Azure ARM, Terraform, PowerShell, DSC, Azure Automation, Ansible, Jenkins, Puppet, Chef, GitHub.
  • Some project management skills or as a minimum be a proven organiser and shaper with a history of delivering on time and to budget.
  • Some experience in people management.
