Elevating AerCap’s digital transformation and supporting crisis management with ASPIRE
Client Profile
Customer Name: AerCap
Established: 1995
Customer Since: 2019
Employees: 600+
Sector: Aviation and leasing
AerCap is the world’s largest aircraft leasing company. Based in Dublin, Ireland, AerCap owns, manages, and leases aircraft to airlines globally. They also provide aircraft financing, sales, and other related services. Their clients include major global airlines , to whom they provide flexible leasing options to suit the varying needs of their customers.
AerCap’s position in the aviation industry is critical, especially in times of financial or operational challenges for airlines, as leasing aircrafts can be a more flexible and less capital-intensive option than purchasing.
In 2019, AerCap chose us as their digital transformation partner for our cloud expertise and ERP capabilities, initiating a partnership that focused on enhancing and supporting their technology infrastructure.
Through the years, this relationship has developed into a productive collaboration built on trust. Using the ASPIRE framework we look to drive value in all our engagements. At times, the real value is having a competent, trustworthy, and reliable partner.
Challenge
AerCap faced a major third-party outage that directly impacted their technology estate. This outage resulted in multiple hosts reporting offline errors across their network, triggering immediate action and response from our team.
Recognising the severity of the situation, our team mobilised specialist engineers who promptly provided support, and assisted in identifying the root cause of the issue. The initial investigation quickly revealed that it was not an isolated incident, rather a global event impacting IT services across different regions and industries.
Solution and outcomes
To comprehensively manage the outage, we mobilised our teams to work through the evening, nights and weekend across the AerCap Cloud estates.
Our multi-disciplinary teams followed the vendor guidance in restoring services. We were able to:
- Restore all production services to AerCap within 10 hours of the third-party manual workaround being in place
- All non-production systems were available 2 business days later
- Specialist teams were mobilised to provide additional support
This was swift and secure crisis management from our teams. Throughout the years, we have provided value for AerCap in areas aligning to the ASPIRE Framework:
- Automated patch management removing the requirement and expense of a third-party solution
- ITSM (Information Technology Systems Management) integration and development leading to improved efficiency and automation. Simplifying the communication between both parties
- Working alongside AerCap to protect their estate implementing native cloud as well as third party security solutions
- Customer Dashboard, offering a transparent view of the Managed Services. We are innovating our toolsets to provide deeper insights and support data-informed decision-making
- Realise 40% of cloud consumption annual savings through cloud cost management and optimisation
- We have worked with AerCap to evolve their infrastructure landscape, migrating from on-premises to Azure
“Version 1 is the extension of our Digital Operations team. They have demonstrated technical competency, commitment to go above and beyond during challenging times, and have embraced the evolution of our estate which has grown significantly in the last three years. This partnership, expertise, professionalism, commitment and flexibility makes for a sustainable relationship now and into the future.”
