{"id":3297,"date":"2023-06-26T15:35:40","date_gmt":"2023-06-26T15:35:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.version1.com\/en-us\/?p=3297"},"modified":"2023-06-26T15:35:40","modified_gmt":"2023-06-26T15:35:40","slug":"social-value-programme-send-students","status":"publish","type":"case-studies","link":"https:\/\/www.version1.com\/en-us\/case-studies\/social-value-programme-send-students\/","title":{"rendered":"Social Value Programme Delivery for SEND Students at New City College"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Introduction<\/h2>\n<p>New City Collegeprovideseducation to young adults aged 16+ from multiplecampuses across GreaterLondon.They are the fourth largest college group in the UK with campuses across Hackney, Tower Hamlets, Redbridge, Epping Forest,and Havering.Theyprovide various coursesfor local school leavers, SEND (Special Education Needs and Disabilities) students, adults, and those looking for higher education qualifications.<\/p>\n<p>New City College approached Version 1 to work with their SEND studentsdue to our growing experience delivering and adapting employability and digital skills programmes for people living with a disability. After the successful completion of our Consultancy Challenge programme by 12 of their level 2 NVQ students (GCSE equivalency), they requestedVersion 1work with their SEND department to design an iteration for their transitionyearstudents.<\/p>\n<h2>Challenge<\/h2>\n<p><a><\/a><br \/> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncclondon.ac.uk\/\">New City College<\/a> students who have aSpecial Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND) statementarerequiredtocomplete employer engagement and placement activities as part of their transition toa T-Levelprogramme.<\/p>\n<h2>Solution<\/h2>\n<p>New City College (NCC) requested a programme to be delivered for eight students with a SEND statement over four days, creating an engagement model that could be improved and reiterated with additional cohorts of students.<\/p>\n<p>The Version 1 Social Value team designed a four-session programme to explore key concepts of design thinking. The sessions were delivered remotely, with a flexible schedule to ensure all participants could manage the programme alongside their core curriculum.<\/p>\n<p>The sessions would support the students to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>improve communication and presentation skills<\/li>\n<li>encourage creative thinking and user focussed design<\/li>\n<li>explore the core concepts of design thinking processes<\/li>\n<li>deliver tasks to an agreed standard and timeline<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>By working closely with the students and the SEND team at New City College, Version 1 were able to redesign the programme from our agreed baseline content over the course of the week to meet the target objectives.<\/p>\n<p>Our unique model of programme delivery through Social Value at Version 1 ensures that our delivery team is empowered to adapt on the ground to suit the needs of our participants and partners.<\/p>\n<h2>Real Differences, Delivered<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>128 people training hours delivered (16 hours x 8 participants)<\/li>\n<li>100% of students completed the programme<\/li>\n<li>Students stated that they had pushed themselves to succeed in the work and were proud to have completed the programme<\/li>\n<li>Support workers stated they were impressed with the level of the students work<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.version1.com\/talk-to-us\/#form\">Contact us to learn more about how we can help you deliver social value to your customers.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>About Version 1 Version 1 proves that IT can make a real difference to our customers\u2019 businesses.
