Great things really did come in threes for us\u00a0at the 19th annual\u00a0Great Place to Work\u00ae Best Workplaces in Ireland virtual awards on the 10th of March 2021 for three separate achievements:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Being named a Top 10 Best Workplace in the Large Workplace category (in 6th place).<\/li>\n<li>For receiving the prestigious \u2018Inspiring Award 2021\u2019 for our\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.version1.com\/blog\/shadow-board\/\" >Shadow Board<\/a>\u00a0programme at Version\u00a01.<\/li>\n<li>Last but certainly not least \u2013 for winning a \u2018Best Workplace Laureate Award\u2019 for successfully maintaining our Great Place to Work status for the past 10 years\u00a0consecutively.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>Reflecting on the Last 10 Years <\/h2>\n<p>It\u2019s at these significant milestones that I\u2019m\u00a0prompted\u00a0to reflect on my highlights\u00a0of the previous years\u00a0and\u00a0to\u00a0share the significance to Version 1 as an employer, and to myself personally.\u00a0However, I always find it difficult to quantify success in terms of years\u00a0(and consecutive years particularly).<\/p>\n<p>Why?\u00a0Well,\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0ingrained in me as a\u00a0\u2018Version 1er\u2019\u00a0with our\u00a0unique balanced\u00a0operating model\u00a0(<a href=\"https:\/\/www.version1.com\/about-version-1\/\" >Our Difference<\/a>)\u00a0to\u00a0view success\u00a0(and any potential shortcomings)\u00a0on a quarterly basis, to a quarterly rhythm.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Our Difference\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>What is our Difference? It\u2019s our unique approach to achieving success quarterly across three commitments equally. These commitments are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Customer Success:\u00a0Make\u00a0a real difference for our\u00a0customers.<\/li>\n<li>Empowered Employees:\u00a0Build an empowering culture and growing a strong organisation for the future.<\/li>\n<li>Strong Organisation:\u00a0Grow\u00a0a high-performing, financially strong organisation of the highest integrity\u00a0\u2013 a strength that empowers our people and delivers customer success.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We know that our greatest strength\u00a0is balance across all three\u00a0commitments to\u00a0our customers,\u00a0our\u00a0people and\u00a0our\u00a0company\u2019s financial performance.\u00a0Those looking for a short-term result or an easier road might sacrifice one benefit for another, but at Version\u00a01, we never will. We know that our greatest strength is balance across all three.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.version1.com\/about-version-1\/\" >This is The Version 1 Difference.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Wired for Success\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When we\u00a0discuss our balanced operating model with people\u00a0outside of Version 1\u00a0such as our customers and prospective employees\u00a0\u2013 the reaction is nearly always one of surprise or curiosity as to how we could keep up the balance quarter after quarter \u2013 for year after year. Achieving equal success every quarter for our customers, our people and our organisation is what makes Version 1 unique, but it\u2019s not easy. It needs a specific set of behaviours to deliver this success consistently: our Core Values. That\u2019s how we ensure the 365 days in a year are navigated skilfully. Every decision we make is governed by six core values. They are simply stated, non-negotiable and ever present.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Honesty and Integrity<\/li>\n<li>Personal Commitment<\/li>\n<li>No Ego<\/li>\n<li>Customer First<\/li>\n<li>Excellence<\/li>\n<li>Drive<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Our Core Values are not aspirational \u2013 they are real and lived, it\u2019s how our people are inherently wired, and this is how we spot \u2018Version 1ers\u2019\u2013 as values cannot be faked. As our Core Values govern every single decision we make, from the smallest to the largest, we look for them when we are hiring. If you think your DNA matches ours and this sounds like the environment you need to thrive,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.version1.com\/careers\/\" >we have plenty of opportunities of all levels available currently.<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>40 Quarters of Dedication <\/h2>\n<p>So, to\u00a0go back to my point above about celebrating or viewing milestones in terms of years, or\u00a0rather looking back over a year and planning for a year ahead,\u00a0internally at Version 1, we deeply study how we can achieve success across all sides of our triangle\u00a0on a quarterly basis.\u00a0We treat each quarter with the same energy and dedication as if it\u2019s a year in itself. If something goes out of balance, we have to\u00a0rectify\u00a0it by the next quarter. This isn\u2019t easy and\u00a0requires tenacity of the highest degree. It makes Version 1 a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.version1.com\/careers\/\" >\u201cGreat Place to Work Not an Easy Place to Work.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>40 Quarters of Balance <\/h2>\n<p>Our people\u00a0operate to\u00a0this\u00a0sustained quarterly rhythm\u00a0and\u00a0when I\u2019m asked what my highlights of the last ten years are \u2013 it\u2019s the fact that our people have dedicated their time, innovation, creativity, analysis and energy\u00a0to 40 quarters of balance\u00a0\u2013 which\u00a0has been no mean feat\u00a0\u2013 but we believe it makes us a very unique place to work and a Great Place to Work for people\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.version1.com\/careers\/\" >who crave something very different for their career.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>So \u2013 to try to distil my highlights of the past 10 years as (an official) Great Place to Work, it\u2019s only right to share with you what our people have ultimately enabled us to maintain across the three sides of our triangle over 10 Years, 40 Quarters, 520 weeks, 3653 Days:<\/p>\n<h2>Thank You<\/h2>\n<p>Our employees\u2019 achievements above are just the tip of the iceberg and there have been\u00a0many other\u00a0moments\u00a0over the past 40 quarters\u00a0that I\u2019ve been\u00a0taken aback and left in\u00a0complete\u00a0awe of what our people have managed to achieve during a quarter.<\/p>\n<p>I want to give a huge thanks to everyone at Version 1 for making these achievements possible and for everything you have delivered over 10 Years, 40 Quarters, 520 weeks, 3653 Days.
