Leading technology and digital transformation provider Version 1 has strengthened its growing data and analytics capabilities through the acquisition of data and business intelligence specialist Instinctive BI.

Founded in Edinburgh in 2016, Instinctive BI has built long-standing relationships with customers across the UK public and private sectors, delivering data, analytics and business intelligence solutions that help organisations address complex data transformation challenges.

The business employs more than 60 consultants across Edinburgh, Glasgow, London and Canada.

Combined, Version 1 and Instinctive BI bring together:

More than 2,600 employees
Over 550 customers
Annual revenues exceeding €250 million (£218 million)

Version 1 has continued to expand its presence in Scotland since establishing operations in Edinburgh in 2014 and now employs more than 100 consultants in the city.

The acquisition represents Version 1’s 14th acquisition and supports the company’s ambitious growth strategy, particularly as organisations increasingly seek to leverage data and business intelligence to solve business challenges and drive better decision-making.

The announcement follows Partners Group’s acquisition of a majority stake in Version 1 in 2022, forming a key part of the company’s next phase of growth.

Tom O’Connor, CEO of Version 1, said:

“This deal marks our 14th acquisition and brings to Version 1 a highly skilled and specialised technology team with deep expertise in business intelligence, data solutions and other key digital transformation consultancy areas. This expertise will enable Version 1 to further advance our customers’ mission-critical transformation programmes and strategic objectives.

From ensuring 24/7 security and compliance for top-tier investment banks to delivering next-generation digital platforms for leading insurance providers, Version 1’s people are at the forefront of delivering real differences through technology. We look forward to joining forces with our new colleagues from Instinctive BI to accelerate our growth ambitions, deliver tangible business benefits for our clients and provide unparalleled career opportunities for talented technologists across the UK, Ireland, Spain and India.”

Strengthening Data and Analytics Capabilities

Following the acquisition, the Instinctive BI team joined Version 1, including senior leadership team members:

Nicholas McFadden
Kelly Scanlon
Stephen Henry

The leadership team brought additional expertise to support the growth of Version 1’s digital, data and cloud capabilities across the UK market.

Nicholas McFadden, CEO of Instinctive BI, said:

“We have seen no let-up in demand for our services for several years now, which is testament to the work our team delivers for clients every day.

In Version 1 we have found the right partner to support and accelerate our ambitious growth plans, helping us strengthen how we support existing and new clients with data-driven solutions that make a real difference to their customers and end users.”

Meeting Growing Demand for Digital, Data and Cloud Services

The acquisition further enhanced Version 1’s digital, data and cloud proposition, enabling customers to unlock greater value from their data and analytics investments.

Enda Diggins, Head of UK Digital, Data and Cloud at Version 1, said:

“As demand rises for world-class digital, data and cloud capabilities across our diverse customer base, we felt Instinctive BI was the perfect fit as Version 1’s next acquisition.

We are excited about the specialist talent, knowledge and shared experience Instinctive BI brings to our customers, particularly in helping organisations leverage the power of data to solve business challenges.”

The transaction followed Version 1’s acquisition of digital transformation consultancy Evoco earlier in 2022 and reinforced the company’s commitment to expanding its digital, data and cloud capabilities through strategic growth.
