Version 1 Appointed to the OutSystems DPS for the Scottish Government

A group of four people seated around a table in a modern office meeting room with glass walls. Two individuals sit on one side facing two others, with a laptop open on the table along with notebooks, pens, and takeaway coffee cups. A large wall-mounted screen is visible in the background, and a potted plant is placed in the corner. The setting is well-lit with a clean, professional workspace design.

Version 1 is delighted to be included on the OutSystems Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS) for the Scottish Government.

This framework appointment opens the door to extending our growing OutSystems practice into the Scottish Government, building on our success across our Northern Ireland public sector customer base and our listing on the Scottish Digital Technology Services DPS.

We are excited by the progress made through OutSystems within Social Security Scotland and look forward to supporting further projects in the years ahead.

Andy Borthwick, Solution Architect at Version 1, said:

“By combining Version 1’s experience in public sector software delivery with the rapid application development capabilities of OutSystems, the world’s leading high-performance low-code platform, we are excited to see how much value we can help create for the people of Scotland.”

High-performance low-code development is about applying modern technology to enhance the tools available to professional developers.

Industry analysts continue to highlight the growth of low-code technologies, with organisations increasingly adopting these platforms to accelerate digital transformation and application delivery.

There are many low-code platforms available today, all designed to increase development speed and agility. OutSystems differentiates itself through automation, intelligence and lifecycle management capabilities that help improve developer productivity from initial build through to ongoing maintenance and enhancement.

Two key scenarios where OutSystems delivers value are:

  • Organisations with limited bespoke software development can gain the benefits of tailored applications while maintaining the speed, scalability and supportability of an enterprise platform.
  • Organisations undertaking digital transformation programmes can accelerate delivery through OutSystems’ modular, reusable architecture, with development speeds significantly faster than traditional coding methods.

We believe great digital experiences require customisation to bring each organisation’s vision and values to life through software.

At the same time, many customers prefer enterprise software platforms with proven reference architectures and pre-built capabilities that can be rapidly adapted to their requirements.

With OutSystems, our customers benefit from the best of both worlds.

We can deliver at the speed typically associated with off-the-shelf solutions while creating data, logic and presentation layers tailored to each customer’s specific needs. Solutions can be hosted within secure, ISO-accredited cloud environments and built using a modular architecture that makes future enhancement and extension straightforward.

Since 2021, Version 1 has used the OutSystems platform to support a growing range of public services in Northern Ireland. These services include school admissions, substitute teacher management, employment services, farming applications and environmental services.

Collectively, these systems have supported more than 200,000 citizens across Northern Ireland.
