Version 1 Named a Great Place to Work in Ireland 2020
Proudly Celebrating the 9th Consecutive Year of Version 1 Being Listed as a Great Place to Work
The Awards
Version 1 is delighted to announce that we have been officially named as one of the Best Workplaces in Ireland in 2020. We were thrilled to be recognised at the 18th annual Great Place to Work Best Workplaces in Ireland awards in Dublin last night. This is our ninth consecutive year to be named as a top Irish workplace, this year placing eighth.
The Great Place to Work Awards assess quality workplaces across Ireland via a staff survey and culture audit of policies and practices. As our CEO Tom O’Connor noted after the awards, the consistently positive feedback from our Irish employees and their high rating of Version 1 as an employer year-on-year is humbling.
Knowing that our dedication to our workforce has resulted in Version 1 being listed as a Great Place to Work is fantastic, and receiving this accolade for the ninth year in a row even better. We’re constantly growing, innovating and challenging ourselves, so we always strive to ensure that our people are enjoying their journey with us. Without their commitment to Customer Success, we would not be where we are today.” Tom O’ Connor, CEO of Version 1
Cathal Divilly, Partner at Great Place to Work Ireland, echoed these sentiments, stating: “Reaching the criteria to appear on the list of Best Workplaces in Ireland is a massive achievement, and has provided a great platform for organisations to differentiate themselves both externally and internally as employers of choice.”
Building a Great Place to Work
Version 1’s commitment to their people saw increased Career Development facilities, a continued focus on Culture and more transparent Employee Benefits in 2019. Jarlath Dooley, Director of Version 1’s People Success unit and the 2020 Brand Ambassador for the awards, reflected on the impact that the Great Place to Work awards have had on Version 1.
It’s our ninth year as a Great Place to Work, and that’s no mean feat; it’s fantastic to see our longevity and consistency here. Aside from the positive connotations that come with this award win, we’ve also found that the audit and survey conducted as part of these efforts have become a pillar of our internal improvement conversations year-on-year. It would be fair to say the Great Place to Work accolades are not simply awards – they also represent our own internal barometer for success annually, and have had a massive impact on our business overall. We’re excited to go for ten in a row!”
What Our People Have to Say
“Doing it once is an effort, but doing it for nine years is a commitment. This award is a reflection of the commitment Version 1 has to its people, and reflects the efforts put in place to develop a constructive and conducive culture for all of their employees.” – Mohammed Akram Basha Akbar Basha, BI & Analytics Consultant – Dublin.
“My current role provides exciting opportunities to work with different projects and technologies, but more than that, the emphasis Version 1 places on its employees is the reason it has placed in the Great Place to Work Ireland for the ninth year in a row! Here’s to many more.” – Shauna McCarthy, QA Analyst – Cork.
“It’s so exciting to see Version 1 win this award nine years in a row. My first year in Version 1 has been a brilliant integration into the world of tech consultancy. As a member of the Innovation team, I have had the privilege of working with cutting edge technologies day in day out which has been a great experience and really evidences what a brilliant workplace we have here.” Jordan Mulvaney, Associate Consultant – Dublin.
“As an Irish company that continues to grow, Version 1 is continuously investing in wellness and learning & development programmes to assist all aspects of employee’s life. Work-life balance is such an important factor for people these days and Version 1 realise that addressing issues like this make it a Great Place to Work.” – Orlaith Keegan, IMS Manager – Dublin.
Ongoing Efforts
Version 1 is on a mission to be a world leader in Customer Success by 2021, and our people are key to this endeavour. The 2020 placement at the Great Place to Work awards is, in part, attributable to our move toward a more experience-focused view of our people’s time at Version 1 in an effort to achieve our goal for next year. The formation of a People Success unit, as well as an internal Employee Experience team and an overall theme of “Excellence”, has spurred Version 1 to reach for new heights for both their employees and themselves as a business throughout 2020, and beyond. Efforts to improve Performance Management are also resulting in improved relations between managers and their teams across the organisation.
Aoibhe Cantwell, head of our Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging team at Version 1, took this placement as evidence that creating an inclusive, remarkable culture is never finished. “Nine years later it’s great to see that we are continuing to listen to employee feedback and implement and experiment with efforts to help our Irish staff grow both personally and professionally. We never rest on our laurels; we’re always striving to think of new ways to make our people’s day at work even better.” Feedback from the Great Place to Work survey highlighted our open door policy and tradition of honesty and transparency amongst all levels of the business as key factors in our ranking this year.
