Golden Spider for Irish Mountain Running Association website
21 November 2008
The Burlington Hotel, Dublin, 20th November 2008:
Version 1, the leading Irish IT Consulting and Services Company, recently scoped a Golden Spider award for 'Best Sports and Leisure website' for its work on the Irish Mountain Running Association (IMRA) site (www.imra.ie).
The website was established five years ago and IMRA President Paul Kelly says it has been a key factor in the 77% increase in membership the organisation has seen in those years. Kelly credits features such as individual runner profile pages displaying results, performance metrics and tagged photos for enhancing the experience of those participating in the sport and driving up interest in participation. As the popularity of the sport has increased, so too has the workload involved in organising races, says Kelly. He continues: "Version 1 has been proactive in delivering online functionality such as race volunteer organisation and carpooling which increase the efficiency of the organisation and decrease the environmental impact of the sport."
Commenting on the award, Version 1 Managing Director Justin Keatinge said "This is a huge honour for Version 1. We feel the award really recognises our ability to harness technology to deliver excellent solutions which offer real benefit to our clients."
