Income Protection and Life Claims System
Challenge
Irish Life Corporate Business provides group pension and risk products to employers and affinity groups. It is the biggest provider of employee benefit solutions in Ireland, administering pension records for over 200,000 people and underwriting life and disability benefits for over 360,000 people. The challenge for Version 1 and product partner ClaimVantage was to replace a 25 year old mainframe system with the most modern claims system in the EU and North America.

Solution
The ClaimVantage product suite was customised and integrated with legacy systems to provide Irish Life with a comprehensive and cost effective solution to manage the full life cycle of a claim from intake through adjudication to payment. The claims solution integrates with more than 10 existing Corporate Business IT systems. All integrations were built using Service Oriented Architecture principles, using Oracle Service Bus to facilitate service abstraction, provide complex service orchestrations and interface transformations in what is a heterogeneous environment.
The claims solution links with the existing workflow, policy management, broker management, benefit calculators and other systems in use to administer customer business. This includes systems built in a wide variety of technologies, all of which now integrate through standards based SOAP web services implemented or extended by the project team.
