Be Part of the AWS Migration GameDay

The AWS Migration Gameday is an interactive, team-based exercise where you’ll put your AWS skills to the test in a fun and risk-free environment. With experts on hand to help, you and your team will work together throughout the day to master best practices and consider all the crucial elements to a successful migration.

What is the AWS GameDay?

GameDay was originally conceived in 2012 with the first customer-facing AWS GameDay run at the annual conference – re:Invent in 2013. GameDay is an interactive team-based learning exercise designed to give players a chance to put their AWS skills to the test in a real-world, gamified, risk-free environment in a fictitious startup called Unicorn.Rentals! Most importantly, it is an extremely fun way to learn, through collaboration in a group setting.

AWS Migration GameDay – How is This Different?

The story has moved on, Unicorn Rentals has now acquired a competitor, BuyMyUnicorn. With the acquisition comes the necessary unification of the IT systems. With the datacentre lease expiring in one day after the London Migration GameDayour overlord CEO said there is no way we will renew it. So, we need to get out and put our systems into AWS alongside the existing Unicorn Rentals stuff ASAP! No questions asked, just get it done!

Your Team’s Mission – well that’s a secret until you arrive on the day, but we can give you some details!

  • You’ll be under pressure to deliver.
  • You’ll need to plan and execute a migration to keep the CEO of Unicorn Rentals happy.
  • Players work in small teams and are given a starting architecture that they evolve throughout the day. There is no one right answer; the path that Migration GameDay participants take is up to them, based on the AWS resources at their disposal in pre-packaged AWS accounts.
  • This is a completely hands-on opportunity to learn about AWS best practices, new AWS services, and AWS architecture patterns.
