Webinar: The Agri-Forum: Digitising Field Inspections for Agricultural Departments
September 22, 2026 , 15:00
Online webinar
Agricultural departments across the UK and Ireland are under growing pressure to modernise field operations, reduce manual processes, and deliver more with less. This session puts a live example at the centre of the conversation.
Sandy Kerr, Head of IT at the Science and Advice for Scottish Agriculture (SASA), will present on the Tuber App, a mobile inspection tool developed to support scientists and field teams in assessing growing crops. Delivered by SASA in collaboration with Version 1 in six months, after nearly a decade without a viable solution, the app is actively being used by a number of inspectors. Simon Granelli, Project Manager at Version 1 will talk through the delivery of the project, followed by open discussion under Chatham House Rules.
This 90-minute session includes:
- The business challenge SASA faced before the Tuber App, and why previous attempts fell short
- An overview of how the app supports field scientists conducting crop inspections
- Early outcomes and adoption since go-live
- Open peer discussion on shared operational and digital challenges across agri-government
- A look ahead at future Agri-Forum sessions, shaped by attendees
Key Takeaways:
Attendees will leave with a clearer picture of how a peer organisation has moved from a decade-long problem to a working digital solution in under six months, practical reference points for their own field operations and inspection programmes, and direct connections with technology and delivery leaders facing the same pressures.
Who It’s For:
- Technology leaders in government agricultural and rural departments
- Operational leaders responsible for farmer-facing services and scheme delivery
- Policy and reform leads interested in how digital enables agricultural change
This is an invite-only, technology-agnostic forum. Sessions operate under Chatham House Rules to encourage open, candid discussion.
