Version 1 is proud to announce that we have been named a Red Hat Innovation Awards Winner for our Smart Text solution, in collaboration with our longstanding customer the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM). The Red Hat Innovation Awards recognise the technological achievements of Red Hat customers around the world who demonstrate creative thinking, determined problem-solving and transformative uses of Red Hat technology.

DAFM processes documents every day for over 120,000 farmers in Ireland, issuing grant funding to the value of 1.2 billion euro in line with EU regulations. To receive these grant payments, farmers must upload various documentation via DAFM’s website. With the numerous amounts of documentation processed, Version 1 engaged with DAFM to develop a text analytics solution that is actively helping the Department to mitigate their GDPR risk.

Version 1 has integrated Smart Text, a document insights solution developed by our Innovation Labs, into DAFM’s systems over a period of 10 months by the onsite engagement team and Version 1’s Innovation Labs, and is now live within the Department actively mitigating GDPR risk for farmers and agents. Smart Text scans uploaded documents and flags potential human errors, thereby greatly reducing administrative overhead and lost business hours as employees divert efforts to resolve any potential breach, whilst also avoiding reputational damage to DAFM. The Department is hugely excited by this new capability and has already signalled its intent to roll this GDPR risk mitigation capability out across other payment schemes they administer.

With 5 winning projects announced, Version 1’s Smart Text solution will be publicly announced and showcased during Red Hat Summit 2021. Smart Text is a key piece of Version 1’s Smart Action Suite, a set of enterprise-ready productivity applications focused on addressing our customer’s most common challenges.
