AWSExcelerate

One particular area of interest for attendees meeting Version 1 Enterprise Cloud experts this year is AWSExcelerate, our unique offering for migrating complex Oracle workloads to AWS.

Version 1 has specialist expertise and experience of Migrating Oracle to Public Cloud and we have published a guide on ‘Migrating Oracle to the Public Cloud – AWS Migration Strategies’ in order to offer you an insight into some of our specialist knowledge in the specific area of migrating Oracle to Amazon Web Services.

Ones to Watch

There are two sessions Version 1 would highly recommend attending based on our experience of executing complex Oracle to AWS migrations in the UK Public sector:

WPS337 – Pushing Amazon RDS to the Limit

“Is Amazon EC2 the only option for your legacy customized Oracle DB on AWS? Do you want to move your legacy Oracle DB on AWS but are not sure that Amazon RDS can handle all custom developments you have on top of your business-critical database? In this session, we discuss how Amazon RDS for Oracle can be leveraged to accommodate specifics of your legacy database in the cloud. We discuss when and how to choose between Amazon EC2 and Amazon RDS scenarios. We outline remediation and migration steps for Amazon RDS, and we share practice-proven experience on providing FTP, SMTP from Amazon RDS. We discuss instance sizing, optimisation and hybrid configurations of Amazon RDS and old Oracle DBs staying on-premises.”

  • Mike Revitt – Global Database Specialist, AWS
  • Laurence Barea – Software Consultant, UK Ministry of Justice

DAT317 – Best Practices for Running Oracle Databases on Amazon RDS

“Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS) continues to be a popular choice for Oracle DBAs moving new and legacy workloads to the cloud. In this session, we discuss how Amazon RDS for Oracle helps DBAs focus their time where it matters most. We cover recent RDS Oracle features, and we go deep on key functionality that enables license optimization, performance, and high availability for Oracle databases. We also hear directly from an AWS customer about their journey to Amazon RDS and the best practices that helped make their move successful.”

  • Michael Barras – Senior Database Engineer
  • Phil Eedes – Technical Architect, UK Ministry of Justice

Our representatives will be in attendance throughout the event at keynote announcements, hackathons, bootcamps, technical sessions and talks. Stay tuned for more information directly from re:Invent in Las Vegas next week. If you would like to speak to Version 1 at re:Invent, please fill out the form below.
