International Women’s Day 2020 – #EachforEqual
An Equal World is an Enabled World
This year’s International Women’s Day theme, #EachforEqual, is centred around forging a more equal world. Today is about celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women – while also acknowledging a call to action for accelerating gender equality. The #EachforEqual theme means challenging stereotypes, fighting bias, broadening perceptions, improving situations and celebrating women’s achievements.
Collectively, each one of us can help create a gender-equal world. At Version 1, it is also very important for us to recognise that this day means something different to people in different locations around the world. Whether this means a gender-equal boardroom, a gender-equal government, gender-equal media coverage, gender-equal workplaces, gender-equal sports coverage, more gender equality in health and wealth, #EachforEqual today applauds the progress being made in making the world a more balanced place for women worldwide.
Our Journey So Far
At Version 1, we focus on making our workplace a more diverse and inclusive environment for all every day. Since #IWD19, we have made great strides.
- We were named as a Best Workplace for Women in recognition of our commitment to developing and promoting practices that make sure women in our workplace have a fair and positive work experience. This award takes the global standard Best Workplaces methodology as its basis, and recognises those organisations that go above and beyond to ensure that the women in their workforce are treated fairly when it comes to pay, recognition, training and promotion opportunities; where they can take the time off they need to attend to childcare or other family commitments; and where they are encouraged, empowered, and supported to do their best work.
- Last year, 67% of promotions to our Senior Management Team were women.
- We also released our annual Gender Pay Gap Report. When we compared pay for equal or similar work across our organisation, the gap was lower than 2%. Our plan is to achieve a year on year improvement in our gender pay gap and balance of male-to-female employee ratio.
- Separately, we were proud to sponsor, for the second year running, ‘’Women in Tech NI Conference’’, organised by Women in Business NI. This inspirational one-day event gathered both female and male role models who innovate, challenge and embrace technology.
These efforts have resulted in a tangible change in culture over the past year thanks to a consistent, determined focus on Inclusion at Version 1. Our commitment to driving and fostering Diversity & Inclusion is central to achieving a great workplace and delivering well-rounded diverse business solutions.
