Three Ireland (Hutchison) Limited, formerly Hutchison 3G Ireland Ltd and trading as Three (3), is a telecommunications and internet service provider operating in Ireland as a subsidiary of CK Hutchison. The company launched in July 2005 and provides 3G and 4G mobile phone services.

Three’s former holding company, Hutchison Whampoa, acquired O2 Ireland in June 2013, and the company was fully merged into the operations of Three Ireland in March 2015.

Project Background

The merger of O2 and Three Ireland telecommunication operators resulted in much duplication across its extensive IT environments. The result on the Business Intelligence system landscape was duplication across its various Reports, Data Feeds and Systems.

Three engaged Version 1 to mobilise a Business Intelligence Consolidation Programme and to assess the impact of the migration from the legacy Business Intelligence environments to a consolidated Strategic Business Intelligence environment. Defining the Business Intelligence Roadmap and Migration Plan to deliver on the Strategic Business Intelligence Environment was also part of the requirements.

Version 1 performed an end to end assessment of the Business Intelligence landscape across the two platforms, reports and data feed. This involved the assessment and documentation of the current Business Intelligence environments as well as the definition of a comprehensive catalogue of current reports and supporting inbound & outbound data feeds.

Version 1 then carried out workshops that resulted in the definition of a Strategic Business Intelligence environment based upon the various business stakeholder requirements. Version 1’s next step was to define the Migration Roadmap and Plan which included a full impact analysis of changes required to Reports and Data Feeds for each phase of the Business Intelligence Roadmap and ensure minimum impact to the Business Stakeholders.
