Challenges

Key Challenge

Building on a strategic partnership, Version 1 worked with the customer on several solutions which would enable them to provide a modern digital workplace where data would be stored in the cloud and provide the ability to work from anywhere instead of office-based working.

Solution

Utilising Managed Services Practice

From the outset, the customer utilised Version 1’s Managed Services practice to grow their SharePoint team which facilitates a replacement Intranet that provides information to around 8000 users daily. The management of SharePoint quickly grew into SharePoint Online, with Version 1 instrumental in developing the strategy, roadmap, and governance of this environment. With better management of the SharePoint environments, adoption and training played a key role from Version 1. Development and project work quickly became a key part of the resources role as it was evident from adoption and training that the various business units saw the potential to automate and over paper processes to SharePoint.

The traditional method of data storage was in Data Centres, which includes P drives, File Shares, Outlook, PST’s, SharePoint, and Public Folders. Office apps were also hosted on-premise. With the customer wanting to access Office apps/services through Microsoft Cloud, Version 1 was chosen to deliver this solution due to the ongoing managed service Version 1 provides for their SharePoint environments.

The project team consisted of Version 1 consultants bringing expertise in the rollout of Teams, migration of Exchange on-premise mailboxes to Exchange Online, migration of personal drives to OneDrive, and development of SharePoint sites using latest technologies like SPFx and Power Automate.
