Delivering Social Value
In June 2021, Version 1 was awarded a three-year contract by Land and Property Services (LPS) in Northern Ireland to support the Department of Finance’s ongoing programme of digital transformation. The contract awarded to Version 1 is aimed at delivering digitally-integrated solutions, systems and outcomes to enable LPS to meet its strategic goals. Within the LPS Integration Partner contract, social considerations were included which Version 1 has been actively working on to deliver social value to LPS and the Northern Ireland community.
In support of the Draft Programme for Government and the Digital Transformation Strategy 2017-21, LPS wanted people and communities in Northern Ireland to fulfil their potential and is committed to supporting those in need to develop their confidence, capability, and necessary skills, in order to build an innovative, creative society.
Version 1 has been working with LPS to deliver a Social Values programme, including providing Employability Skills for young care leavers aged 16-24 in partnership with Voice of Young People in Care (VOYPIC).
Version 1 will offer the Insights Foundations Programme to service users at VOYPIC, on behalf of Land and Property Service NI. Version 1 has prepared a programme of sessions to encourage their service users to consider a career in IT as well as provide them with essential employability skills including:
- Interview skills training from our recruitment team;
- Collaborative project work that investigates real industry challenges and trends;
- Social media for employability session to help young people manage their online profile;
- Certified course with celebration event to recognise the commitment and work of the young people;
- Sign posting to next steps in education and employment.
Version 1 is fully supportive of the Buy Social approach and is investing and evolving our Social Value approach to ensure we are making a real difference across Ireland through working closely with our customers to provide community benefit for their stakeholders.

The Social Value team at Version 1 fully embraced the LPS brief on social value and developed the delivery plan with experience and enthusiasm. I had the opportunity to attend one of the first delivery sessions and was able to witness first-hand the work with young adults and the shared motivation to improve opportunities and address social injustice.
