Move Your Career Forward in Edinburgh
Known as Auld Reekie by locals, Scotland’s capital is known for it’s collection of medieval and classic architecture nestled between the green Pentland Hills in the south, to the seaside resort of Portobello in the East. It is where the old meets new in a seamless blend of architectural splendour, literature, romance and inspirational history. Often considered one of the most lively cities in Europe, Edinburgh’s famed year-round festivals programme surely makes it one of the top cities in Europe to live in.
The Version 1 Edinburgh office is ideally located on the tram line and close to the Edinburgh Gateway Train station for easy access from the City Center and the Scottish Central Belt. Our team in Scotland ranges from HR, Marketing and Finance to Managed Services, ERP and Software Asset Management Teams.
I work as an Oracle Functional Consultant within Managed Services, which basically means that I help support our 50+ Oracle customers from my desk - or home - here in the iconic city of Edinburgh.
Version 1 is a great place to work. It’s so refreshing that everyone right up to the CEO is so approachable and to feel that your opinions are genuinely valued and listened to no matter your level within the company. And if you want to advance your career or change direction, you’ll find plenty of opportunities within Version 1. In the 3 years since I joined, I’ve moved countries, been promoted and spent a year working in Denmark and Holland!
But it’s far from all work and no play. There are plenty of social events, including nights out to the world-famous Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and a strong health and wellness program. And, of course, being in a vibrant capital city means your never far from a great bar, fantastic restaurant, live music or anything else you can think of.
I currently support our senior management team. It is a varied role that allows me to engage with multiple teams and employees across Version 1 and liaise externally with key stakeholders in clients and partners. It makes for an interesting and exciting role which is never dull!
Working for Version 1 is exciting, fast-paced, ambitious and managers are very supportive towards your own career goals and ambitions. The Core Values are what make Version 1 – I can see it day in and day out where our teams are driven to succeed for our customers.
There is a great engagement programme that goes on in the Edinburgh office including nights out at the Jazz and Fringe Festivals & Christmas markets, a monthly “mash up” office get together, visits to escape rooms, local lunches out, and even sushi making lessons!
I work as part of the Lead Generation team at Version 1. This team lies between Marketing and Sales; we focus on providing qualified leads and opportunities to the wider sales team, predominantly from an outbound perspective. The team is based in Edinburgh; I have grown up here for nearly 20 years and it still surprises me, from the unpredictable weather to the annual Fringe Festival. It’s a city that has something for everyone.
Version 1 isn’t your typical company. One of the best aspects of Version 1 is it’s balance between our customers and employees; both are equally revered. Version 1 never fails to identify and deliver new ways to help and improve our customers, whilst also maintaining a strong focus on keeping everyone in the company happy, providing a great feeling of community.
As Customer Success Manager, I own the commercial relationship with several Version 1 customers, assuring that quality is being delivered, appropriate levels of support are in place, opportunities for value-add are being identified, and clear and speedy issue resolution across the full engagement is achieved.
I joined Version 1 in January 2014, and have since worked within the Sales, Service Delivery Management and latterly Business Relationship Management Streams. With 10 years’ Service Delivery and Account Management experience, I have operated across all commercial sectors in the delivery of ERP, BI, LMS, SAM and Applications Services.
